Highway MPG

Got 31 mpg on a 300 mile highway trip from StLouis, MO to Topeka, KS with the air on and no passengers. The posted speed limit was 70 in MO and 75 in KS.

A few weeks later, and about 4 tanks, I average about 24 mpg and the best I've seen is about 35 highway for a 140 mile highway-only trip.

That sounds nice..... 24, 31, or 35 mpg. I was excited when my F150 got a shade under 19 mpg on a road trip in March.

My v8 sport trac peaked 20 mpg with 410 gears and 32" tires, but not in my normal way of driving. Drove like a grandma, and only did 45 mph cause of rpms. If I can keep it below 2k rpm, I get better mpg. If I didnt tow so much, I'd drop to a 327 or even 308. If I supercharge it like I'm wanting, I'll drop gears...

The best mpg's I've ever got was in the Stang back on April 17th, 1996 (I remember this because I listened to the radio talking about it being the one year anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing). The Eight Nine still had 2.73's back then, and she got 31 mpg on the way down to St. George, UT.
