P0715, Turbine Speed Sensor

My kid's Edge popped the Wrench icon yesterday. The code that came with it is P0715.

I'm not sure what this is, but I think I can find it with the videos on YouTube. The turbine speed is on the input side of the transmission, so it should be near the bellhousing/engine as opposed to near the axle.

The symptom included slippage, the car barely could get in my driveway. After sitting overnight, I drove it and there was nothing wrong that could be discerned by lights or the seat of my pants.

What kinds of things am I going to find here?

Fluid should be Mercon V, and I will need a gasket set. When filling the trans on my BMW, I have to get the fluid up to temp -- this seems an odd requirement for filling something with no fluid in it, but I digress -- is there a similar requirement for the Edge? The data plate says the transmission code is J, what transmission is that?
